چکیده

In the seesaw model with hierarchical Dirac masses, the neutrino mixing angle exhibits the behavior of a narrow resonance. In general, the angle is strongly suppressed, but it can be maximal for special parameter values. We delineate the small regions in which this happens, for the two flavor problem. On the other hand, the physical neutrino masses are hierarchical, in general, except in a large part of the region in which the mixing angle is sizable, where they are nearly degenerate. Our general analysis is also applicable to the RGE of neutrino mass matrix, where we find analytic solutions for the running of physical parameters, in addition to a complex RGE invariant relating them. It is also shown that, if one mixing angle is small, the three neutrino problem reduces to two, two flavor problems. ∗Email: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

Neutrino Mass and Mixing in the Seesaw Playground∗

We discuss neutrino mass and mixing in the framework of the classic seesaw mechanism, involving right-handed neutrinos with large Majorana masses, which provides an appealing way to understand the smallness of neutrino masses. However, with many input parameters, the seesaw mechanism is in general not predictive. We focus on natural implementations of the seesaw mechanism, in which large cancel...

Neutrino mixing in Seesaw model

We study the neutrino mixing matrix (MNS matrix) in seesaw model. Assuming large mass hierarchy for heavy right-handed Majorana mass, we show that MNS matrix is determined by a unitary matrix which transforms neutrino yukawa term into a triangular form. Large mixing may occur even if yukawa matrix for charged lepton and that for neutrino is simultaneously diagonalized by biunitary transformatio...

Neutrino Mass and Oscillation : An Introductory Review ∗

After a brief introduction to neutrino mass via the seesaw model I discuss neutrino mixing and oscillation, first in vacuum and then its matter enhancement. Then the solar and atmospheric neutrino oscillation data are briefly reviewed. Finally I discuss the problem of reconciling hierarchical neutrino masses with at least one large mixing, as implied by these data. A minimal seesaw model for re...

We study the neutrino mixing matrix (the MNS matrix) in the seesaw model. By assuming a large mass hierarchy for the heavy right-handed Majorana mass, we show that, in the diagonal Majorana base, the MNS matrix is determined by a unitary matrix, S, which transforms the neutrino Yukawa matrix, yν , into a triangular form, y△. The mixing matrix of light leptons is VKMS ′∗ , where VKM ≡ VLe VLν an...

Seesaw mechanism and structure of neutrino mass matrix

We consider the seesaw mechanism of neutrino mass generation in the light of our present knowledge of the neutrino masses and mixing. We analyse the seesaw mechanism constrained by the following assumptions: (1) minimal seesaw with no Higgs triplets, (2) hierarchical Dirac masses of neutrinos, (3) large lepton mixing primarily or solely due to the mixing in the right-handed neutrino sector, and...

Hierarchical Majorana Scales in the Seesaw Model

If the mixing angles in each of the seesaw sectors are all small, and the neutrino masses are hierarchical, we study the conditions for large neutrino mixing using triangular matrices. In particular, the implication of the neutrino oscillation data for the mass hierarchy in the heavy Majorana sector is examined, and the heavy Majorana scales are shown to depend sensitively on the solar mixing a...
